Jesus Diaz Quintet Sounds of Cuba

Cuban born percussionist and vocalist Jesús Díaz arrived in the United States from Habana in 1980. Through a blend of contemporary and traditional practices, Diaz explores the role that music plays in the cultural identity, history and geography of the Caribbean islands, most notably, Cuba. His local, national and international performances in collaboration with world renowned and acclaimed artists are recognized for their contributions to the richness of an ever-expanding musical genre. Jesus Diaz has performed, toured or recorded with such artists as Stevie Wonder, Carlos Santana, Dizzy Gillespie, Pete Escovedo, Sheila E, Omar Sosa and John Calloway, among many others. Jesús Díaz Quintet: Sounds of Cuba is presented as part of Rhythmix Island Arts Concert Series honoring island traditions from around the world, on the island of Alameda. Series Tickets are available for purchase through April 27th.
